Edition 12th Italy-Mexico Award was held at Live Aqua Urban Resort hotel in Mexico City to honour Mexican and Italian entrepreneurs in the automotive sector.
Among classic Italian cocktails from Campari, Maserati and Alpha Romeo SUV’s, sax music, design and Gala Dinner, His Excellency the Ambassador of Italy in Mexico Luigi de Chiara and the President of the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Mexico (CCIM) Lorenzo Vianello, presented the statuette created by the renowned Italian designer Giorgetto Giugiaro.
Sophistication was present at Italy-Mexico Awards
Marco Tronchetti Provera, received the Honorary Award for the importance of Pirelli in Mexico, the new research and development center to be opened in Mexico and its 150th anniversary.
Claudio Zanardo CEO and President of Pirelli in North America represented Marco Tronchetti Provera to receive the award and said: “Is a pleasure for me to accept to by presence of Pirelli´s CEO Marco Tronchetti Provera to receive this recognition, that is a symbol of the relationship between Pirelli and Mexico. We are presents in Mexico for many years and try to bring some part of Italian here in Mexico. And this is a real celebrating and very important anniversary for our company because we are celebrating 150th anniversary, but we are celebrating as well another anniversary and even more important for Mexico, that is the 10th anniversary of our presences with a factory in Mexico, so we are bussing in Silao, in Guanajuato, with the one of the biggest factory”.
Excited, Zanardo continues to say “we don´t just produce tires, we produce the highest level of our product, we are stablishing with big investment the maximum level of technology for Pirelli and being here in Mexico to support the group of Italy to America. Don’t just invest in a factory but we invest in our people, Mexican people is good for us because is value of Pirelli, we feel fortunate being here in Mexico because our presence is important and want to be here for a long, long time”, concluded.
The Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Leonardantonio Franchini, CEO and Vice President of Eurotranciatura Mexico, who has also been appointed honorary consul of Italy for Bajio region (Queretaro, San Luis Potosi, Hidalgo, and Guanajuato).
Carlos Zarlenga, newly appointed President of Stellantis received the Large Company Award for its growth in the internal market and spare parts production. The objective is that within 2 to 4 years, Mexico will be a center of change and transition to the future, establishing the link of many Italian companies to join the production chain.
Scientific Research Award to Simone Lucatello, president of the Association of Italian Researchers in Mexico, who in 2021 was awarded the Stella d’Italia by President Sergio Mattarella for his work as a researcher and teacher at Instituto de Investigaciones Dr. José María Luis Mora and for being a member of the UN panel of experts on climate change, the highest global scientific body on climate.
The Small and Medium-Sized Enterprise Award went to Pablo Herrera, CEO and president of Maserati Mexico. Since 2017, Maserati has been represented by Grupo Herrera, a 4-generation family business that has seen fast growth in the automotive industry. In Mexico, next year they will present the Grecale SUV and the new MC20 Cielo sports car.
The Italian Assistance Association (A.I.A.) chaired by Marco Cannizzo and guided by its honorary president Regina Casalini, won the Solidarity Award. The association was officially born in 1908, but it was formed in 1856, the year in which this institution started to help Italian migrants and currently also Italian descendants.
